Easy Exercise

November 6th 2008 01:20
Due to problems with my legs, I have a hard time finding exercises that I can do. Therefore, I set out (on the web) in search of easy exercises - because I KNOW I have to exercise more.

I found several websites that have easy exercises, but one in particular I found rather useful: Easy Exercise Tips from Sunkist.

Because this is the online home of Sunkist oranges - they use oranges in some of the exercises. (Which will remind me to eat more fruit, as well!)

One tip - which doesn' t use oranges - is called Abdominal Strengthener. It is easy enough to do anywhere, anytime, and will (supposedly) give you stronger abs "sooner than you think". All that is required is to tighten your abdominal muscles while inhaling, and hold for a few seconds. This can be something you try to do at specific times throughout the day - such as at every red light or stop sign while driving, or every time you look at your watch. Maybe every time you think about going to look for a snack would be a good time to do a few of these!

They offer a few good tips for extra cardiovascular activity:
Every good exercise routine requires cardiovascular activity. Try these simple activities:

* Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
* Walk to speak with someone in your office instead of calling or emailing.
* Park your car in the back of the parking lot and walk the distance to the building.
* Take a walk around the area during your lunch hour and eat at your desk when you return.
* Pets are a great source of exercise! When walking the dog, take an extra long route.
* Recruit your friends to meet for a walk or jog every evening to catch up on the day's events instead of calling them with news.

* Plan your shopping trips with exercise in mind. If there are three stores you want to visit in the mall, when you leave the first one, go to the one the furthest away and then return to the closer store.

All of these tips will increase your aerobic activity. If you add in a gym workout a couple of times a week, you will have the makings of a great exercise regimen!

hehehe...everytime Sunkist is mentioned, I don't think of the oranges. I think of the nice cold, sugary soft drink.

Actually, Sunkist is my favorite soft drink - but I had to switch to the sugar free version. As diet sodas go, it's pretty good.
