Day Thirty One
This week has been wonderful, I have been on clinical placement at a hospital, and have found dieting to be a lot easier when you don’t actually have time to eat. I am used to making breakfast at eight and then trying to fill in the time until lunch, this is not the case if you work as a nurse!
I used to have an office job, and although I was quite busy, I still found time to ring a coworker and walk to the shop together, and eat at my desk, especially around three pm. There were also lots of lunches and special going away morning teas I had to try to avoid. I don’t know what advice to give to those people who are continuously surrounded by food all day, except that perhaps you should become a nurse! Not only do you not have time for food, but with what you are exposed to during your shift, you probably wouldn’t want to face food anyway.
I learnt today that an easy way to drink extra water is to have a glass before you drink any other type of drink. For example, today I felt thirsty so instead of just pouring a glass of diet coke, I had a glass of water first. I felt replenished and the coke became more of a pleasure than a thirst quencher. The extra water also helps to combat the negative action of the caffeine.
This morning I weighed 90.6kgs, I have not used the cross trainer very much this week because I have been so active at the hospital and have walked to the park twice in the last two days. This is a positive, because I don’t intend to rent an exercise machine for the rest of my life, I am using it as a boost to my exercise levels and so I have no excuse not to use it. Eventually I will incorporate a high level of activity into my every day routine.
