Eat Your Oatmeal

Eating Oat Cereal for Breakfast Helps You Lose Weight!
Of all the diet tips, books, suggestions, ideas, etc. I have found, the most important, and helpful one must be EAT BREAKFAST! But there's even more to it. My favorite diet book (read review on this website), You on a Diet, suggests that you choose one breakfast and eat it every day. Yes, that's right, eat the same thing for breakfast EVERY DAY!
The book offers choices depending on whether you prefer cereal, eggs, bread, or no breakfast at all. My advice is eat oatmeal (or Cheerios - my personal preference). Studies have shown that eating oats each day can lower your bad cholesterol, and raise your good cholesterol, leading to better heart health. I just know that I feel better when I eat Cheerios or oatmeal every day.
A friend of mine recently found out she is diabetic. We were discussing weightloss strategies, and I mentioned the book. This is what she has to say on the topic:
This proves to me that not only does eating oats each day help regulate your cholesterol levels, but your blood sugar levels as well. I'm going to keep on eating my Cheerios! I just hope I can lose as much weight as my friend.

Not only am I overweight, by about 60 pounds, but I also just found out that I'm diabetic - about three months ago. A friend offered the suggestion about eating the same breakfast every day, and at the same time every day. I thought I'd give it a try.
I chose to eat Cheerios, but any oat cereal will probably do just as well. I eat 1 cup of Cheerios with skim milk (and a packet of Equal, because I like it sweet) and drink 8 ounces of orange juice. This is equal to about 250 calories. I haven't made any other significant changes to my diet. I already drank diet soda, and I never ate a lot of sweets. I have lost more weight, more consistantly since making the breakfast change.
My morning routine is much simpler now, because I don't have to even think about what I'm going to eat. I just fix my bowl of Cheerios. And, not only have I lost 10 pounds in about 2 months, my glucose levels (blood sugar) are a lot lower. Before I made this change, my morning glucose level was between 120 and 140 every morning - before I ate. Now, when I wake up, my blood sugar is only about 100. This is a big difference. Just by changing what I eat for breakfast. And it's still something I like!
